prof. RNDr. Vladimír Karas, DrSc.

He delves into methods for measuring the physical characteristics of cosmic bodies with exceptionally strong gravitational attraction. Among the most extreme examples of such objects are neutron stars and black holes.

His research on supermassive black holes located at the centers of galaxies has provided a deeper comprehension of the mutual interaction between stars orbiting in their close proximity and the gaseous environment surrounding them. This interaction gradually causes the stars to approach the center of the galaxy, eventually leading to their disintegration by tidal forces.

He is a member of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic and a number of professional organizations focused on astronomy and astrophysics.
