SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR – IT INFRASTRUCTURE ADMINISTRATOR
We are CERGE-EI, a joint workplace of the Center for Economic Research and Doctoral Studies of Charles University and the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v.v.i. and have long been ranked among the institutions producing the highest quality economic research. We are currently looking for a new colleague for our projects in the Computer Office for the position of System Administrator - IT Infrastructure Administrator.
The most important qualities you will need to work with us are a friendly nature and a desire to constantly learn.
Your experience with the Linux system, with which you will work intensively, is valued.
What will be included in your job description?
• installation, configuration and administration of Linux servers (typically Gitlab, Nagios, Moodle, DokuWiki, helpdesk, VMware);
• participation in infrastructure monitoring and management, including monitoring tool configurations (Nagios, Flowmon);
• cooperation in data backup and recovery administration (Veeam Backup);
• management and development of network infrastructure – firewalls, switches, routers, WiFi controllers, email gateways, anti-malware, DNS;
• cooperation in the development of the Microsoft 365 environment within the Charles University ecosystem – management of users, licenses, security policies;
• management and automation of certificate issuance;
• configuration and operation of web servers (Apache, Nginx) and databases (MySQL);
• management of Google Workspace and synchronization with Windows Active Directory;
• systematic documentation management and knowledge sharing within the IT team, user training.
What do we need from you?
• secondary education in a technical field, or adequate experience;
• knowledge of English for communication with foreign colleagues (written and oral);
• overview of IT: security, networks, servers, applications, backup;
• practical experience with network administration and troubleshooting;
• knowledge of server operating systems configuration and administration;
• knowledge of scripting languages;
• willingness to create online documentation (e.g. Wiki);
• experience with the Git version control system is an advantage;
• independence, reliability, systematic approach and team spirit;
• desire to learn new things – we understand that you will not currently cover all of the above technologies, but you will not be alone.
